Lyndsey is 200-hour RYT who came to her mat as a way to create space and find some balance as a mom of two little kids. It turns out that yoga was definitely more than just a physical practice for her. It gave her a way to quiet her thoughts, build strength and be of service to others. Lyndsey completed her training with Heather Sheridan and Julie Gurevich, and found that one of the best parts of yoga is the strong community it can build. She found a home on her own (sweaty) mat, and thrives on meeting her students wherever they are in their practice, challenging them to be stronger, more aware of their bodies, and to believe in themselves, wherever it is needed in their lives.
Lyndsey teaches an alignment-based vinyasa class that is both playful and challenging, and will remind you how much of a rockstar (a.k.a. bad*ss) you really are.
Michael Shankara Malamed
Ever feel like life is flying by with too many demands? Michael says he felt that way before he came to Yoga.
"Yoga," he says, "is a place where you can go inside, align your body into poses, breathe mindfully, and develop strength both inwardly and outwardly. For me, this is peace."
Michael has been teaching yoga since 2007. He is Vinyasa Level 1 certified and Power Yoga Level 1 certified.
He completed his 200 hr yoga teacher training at Lotus Yoga in Montclair, NJ. He was inspired by Baron Baptiste ('Baron Baptiste' hyperlink: https://www.baptisteyoga.com ) and took his Level 1 training program. He is currently furthering his yogic studies in Sanskrit and Yoga Philosophy with Manorama, founder of Sanskrit Studies & Luminous Soul ('Sanskrit Studies & Luminous Soul' hyperlink: http://www.sanskritstudies.org ) .
Michael has been in recovery for 9 years. He is a certified Y12SR space holder, a holistic model that addresses the physical, mental and spiritual dis-ease of addiction. Y12SR connects the somatic approach of Yoga with the cognitive approach of the 12 Step recovery model.
Michael teaches both Vinyasa Classes and will be holding space for Y12SR Meetings.
Taking his class you will experience: Alignment of the body, an athletic and dynamic flow of the poses coupled with breath awareness, which gives rise to steady grounding and an easeful feeling.
Emma's first experience with yoga was Ashtanga with Alex Shipman. She was hooked right away. She received her 200 hours at New York Yoga in 2004 under the direction of Michael Gilbert, David Hollander and Govinda Kai. Their style of Vinyasa yoga had strong roots in Ashtanga and Iyengar. Emma received a pre-natal certification at Om Yoga in 2005 when she was pregnant with her daughter. This allowed her to better accommodate expectant mothers in her classes.
Emma’s classes are challenging, informative and fun with great music. She believes strongly in using breath to ease the body and mind.
